The 5th Face

On March 21, 2014 at the Carver's Cafe, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, guests celebrated something monumental. It's true that Gutzon Borglum's creation, visible at least during the early minutes of the program, is one of the world's great achievements and most likely won't be duplicated. It's also pretty unlikely that anyone will match Russ Jobman's 45 years at Mount Rushmore.
Since his first season in 1969, Russ has worked with eight NPS (National Park Service) superintendents, transitioned with three different concessions companies, and participated in the most significant facility improvement program ever undertaken since the Memorial was originally dedicated in the 1930's.
On this evening friends from the early days as well as those made more recently joined to congratulate Russ and thank him for his contribution not only to Rushmore but to the Black Hills and South Dakota. These are but a few highlights of that evening.
Russ and wife Carol will be enjoying a new home in Colorado. Russ has accepted a position of General Manager at Xanterra's Rocky Mountain National Park operations.
