Justin Barton of CyArk demonstrates new technology.
Justin Barton of Cyark at Mount Rushmore National MemorialJustin Barton of Cyark

Justin Barton of CyArk was at Mount Rushmore National Memorial on July 3rd, 2012 to demonstrate new technology.

The CyArk mission is to digitally preserve cultural heritage sites through collecting, archiving and providing open access to data created by laser scanning, digital modeling, and other state-of-the-art technologies.

Mr. Barton's demonstration generated a lot of interest from adults and children alike. The demonstration fascinated the kids, and many of the adults saw the value in preserving historic sites and artifacts. The work done by the CyArk team in cooperation with the National Park Service at Mount Rushmore will ensure greater preservation and educational efforts at the Memorial. The project has already led to new classroom teaching techniques in South Dakota. Additionally, CyArk's efforts will allow the public access to historic sights and objects from a truly unique perspective.

Visitors at Mount Rushmore National Memorial on July 3rd, 2012 get hands on demonstration. Interested participants took pictures which could later be used to create 3D media and even 3D objects. The software is available free including apps for your IPad or IPhone.
